About Connecting.nyc

New York City needs its own place on the Internet. Just like Germany has .de and France has .fr, New York City should have .nyc so any resident can set up a personal, business, or directory site.

Connecting.nyc is the New York State not-for-profit corporation formed by people dedicated to getting .nyc for you use by city institutions, businesses, and residents.

How do we get .nyc? There's a licensing group named ICANN. This small powerful group decides who gets their dot on the world wide map of the internet.

We'd like your help -- to get started, click on one of the buttons at the top of the screen to take action and help out. Thanks!

If you'd like to learn more about our effort before getting more involved, take a look at our wiki. There you'll find 100+ pages discussing our mission, advantages of using .nyc, the acquisition campaign, our current and planned governance processes, the domain name allocation plan, a FAQ, and a lot more. And remember, it's in the wiki format so you can participate in our planning processes.
